Book Review: The Vitamin D Revolution

The Vitamin D Revolution
By Soram Khalsa, M.D.

I usually only review books I've read that are in some way connected to spiritual development, but I'm making an exception in this case.  This book is about our physical heath and about a problem that has developed in recent years: people hiding from sunlight at the recommendation of  dermatologists are developing vitamin D deficiencies.  Many don't think this is very important.  They think the only problem caused by a vitamin D deficiency is rickets, a childhood bone disease.  The recent research in this area, as summarized in this book, indicate otherwize. A vitamin D deficiency has been found to be related to many other illnesses including, of course, other diseases related to calcium absorbsion such as osteoperosis, but also such illnesss as heart disease, diabetes, depression, and arthritis.  And those hiding from the sun to prevent skin cancer need to consider that one type of skin cancer actually occurs more often among those who are suffering from a vitamin D deficiency.  This fairly short book covers the subject well and I encorage everyone who is concerned about their health to read it.  I have the Kindle version, but it is available in paperback.   It's rated 4.5 stars on Amazon.
