Random Thoughts 9-6-2009
When I read the news item this week about the new robofish developed at MIT to conduct ocean research, I immediately though of the fishermen I saw on my trip to Greece fishing off a pier or casting nets into the sea from small boats and it made me wonder: how will some fishermen from a remote village react when they pull in their nets and find a robofish in it?
I don't understand how eco-terrorists can believe that pulling down two radio antennas is helping their cause. First, violence and destructiveness tends to turn people against you and second, those antennas will be replaced using up natural resources and creating pollution which is hardly helping the environment.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. ~Helen Keller
Crazy Crime:
This one could also be in the crazy lawsuit category. A guy in Michigan went into a store brandishing a large knife and threatened several employees before taking cigarettes and money. As he was leaving the store, the clerk pulled out a gun and shot him hitting him in the arm and back. The crook is now in jail, convicted of the crime but has filed suit against the store owners and clerks for pain, suffering and emotional stress.
A large woman stole a case of beer from a convenience store. She got caught when they reviewed the tapes from the security cameras and saw her lift her dress, shove the case of beer between her thighs, put her dress back down and waddle out of the store.

I can just imagine the look on the police officers face watching the store video tape of the women putting the case of beer between her thighs and waddling out the door. What an image!
