Don't Ask, Don't Tell and Military Benefits
Military housing. Most married people in the military can get free housing on base for their spouse and children and that does include adopted children. Gays, of course, cannot because if they admitted they were married to someone of the same sex they would be violating DADT and that would be grounds for discharge. Those who can't get housing on base often are entitled to a housing allowance to help pay for off-post housing for their family, except for gays.
Medical benefits. Military people can get free medical care and medical insurance for their spouse and children and many military bases even have dental clinics and optometrists that soldiers family members can use. But not the families of married gays.
Educational benefits. Some large military bases have their own schools for military children. And for those who have to pay tuition to send their kids to public schools in a state where they don't have legal residence and pay taxes, the military pays those fees – except for gays. Recently, the Veterans Administration announced a new policy that allows military people who have college tuition benefits that they don't plan to use because they already have a degree to give those benefits to their spouse or children. But if your gay, you can't admit that you have a spouse and adopted children, so no benefits for them. You can get benefits for your children if you had a heterosexual marriage at some time in the past, but otherwise, you would have difficulty explaining how a single person in the military has adopted children.
I think that covers the major items and I could go on for two more pages with smaller items but I think I've made the point: DADT denies gays more than the right to be honest.

Wow, I didn't know that. That's terrible. I think it's quite an embarrassment for the military. I was under the impression the military existed to defend our FREEDOM. Yet the men and women risking and often loosing their life to defend our freedom can't be free?!? That doesn't make any sense! Even with the don't ask don't tell. They're forcing lying and prejudice but people enlisted in the military are supposed to represent honor. None of this makes sense or could possibly have a logical explanation. It's just wrong.
