In a Rut

`It's easy to get into a rut.  You go to the same job every day.  You return to the same home every day.  You socialize with the same friends, have the same hobbies, shop in the same stores, etc.  Before you realize it, your in a rut.  Your growing older, but not really growing anymore.  And it's not just mental and social growth, but your spiritual growth may be stifles also.
Fortunately, it's almost as easy to get out of a rut as it is to get into one.  Here are some ways to do it:

  • Shop at a store you've never been to before, especially for clothes
  • Start a new hobby (you don't need to get carried away. Just invest enough time and money to give it a try)
  • Try eating in an ethnic restaurant of a type you've never eaten in
  • Read some books by authors you've never read before.  Maybe even a genre you've never read before
  • Vacation in a place you've never been to before.
In short, the idea is to force yourself to do something new and meet some new people.  It might awaken something in you that you thought was lost or didn't know was even there.
