Using Creative Visualization

Creative visualization is a powerful technique that many have found to be very useful in helping them achieve goals.  It has been used successfully by cancer patients to rid themselves of cancer.  It has been used to help quit smoking, lose weight, and improve health in many other ways.  It also has been used to help people in sports improve by visualizing themselves having a perfect game.  It has been used to get rid of phobias like a fear of speaking in public.  These are all good things and I recommend using visualization for such things but don't forget your spiritual side.
Visualization can be useful in helping you achieve your goals in spiritual development as well.  You can visualize both long term and short term goals.  Maybe you have been forgetting to practice your daily spiritual techniques.  You can use visualization yo see yourself remember to do so and benefiting from the practice.  If your goal is to reach a certain level or achieve a certain title in your spiritual school say in one year, than visualize yourself a year in the future having reached that goal and tell yourself you will be guided on the path to achieve it.  You can also use it to visualize your energy centers being filled with God's Light.  If you haven't practiced creative visualization before, there are now a number of books and CDs available to help.  One CD I have is a classic in the field: Creative Visualization Meditations by Shakti Gawain.  She has also authored several books on the subject.  You can also find CDs on visualization for specific subjects though I haven't found any specifically about spiritual growth.
