Religious Freedom for All
I sometimes hear certain ministers, and especially televangelists, complaining about countries where Christians are not given religious freedom. They ask people to send money to help them fight religious intolerance in those countries. They ask people to write to political leaders to protest this treatment of Christians. The strange thing is, many of these same preachers and the churches they represent are guilty of the same thing. If a Buddhist or Muslim group wants to build in their town, they often oppose it and fight it. And look at how some conservative churches fought so hard to pass Proposition 8 to ban gay marriage in California, then these same churches and organizations have the nerve to complain they are the targets of prejudice by more liberal organizations.
Religious freedom is not something you can demand for yourself while denying it to others. The only way to get real religious freedom is that you must be willing to let others have it as well.
