The company of the ungodly increaseth sorrow,
whilst fellowship with the righteous cleanseth the rust from off the heart.
He that seeketh to commune with God, let alone betake himself to the companionship of His loved ones;
and he that desireth to hearken unto the word of God,
let him give ear to the words of His chosen ones.

When we are working on developing our spirit, one thing that can hold us back is to spend too much time around negative and materialistic people.  We need to spend time with other spiritual people, especially those who are spiritually advanced.  Just being around such people can help raise our vibration rate and the closer we get to the vibration rate of God and the angels, the better we can communicate with them.
