Book Review: Atlantis

Atlantis
by Rudolf Steiner

Rudolf Steiner was a great spiritual teacher and Atlantis is one of his best books.  Unfortunately, it is also easily misunderstood by materialistic persons or even those who are just beginning on the path of spiritual enlightenment.  Nonetheles, it is worth reading and contemplating.  The title of the book is somewhat misleading for two reasons:

  • It's really about the entire progress of the human race on earth from the very spiritual beginning to the very material modern human.
  • The Atlantis and Atlanteans Steiner talks about are not so much people who lived on some island about eleven thousand years ago, but is more about the earliest people who were very spiritual and lacked significant material substance.  These first people occupied the planet many millions of years ago.

Like most of Steiners books, this is a printed version of several lectures Steiner gave over time, but do provide a continuing story.  I'm not sure Steiner is 100% correct with his interpretation of the spiritual visions that came to him, but this book is still a valuable addition to any spiritual library.  It has a five-star rating on Amazon.
