Random Thoughts 6-7-2009

Since writing a few days ago about abandoned dogs and cats in Greece, I researched online and found that there are some international animal charities doing what they can to help.  One that I donated to is canadahelps.org.

A simple thing that I found a great convenience during my trip was Onederwear disposable underwear and socks.  Great for situations where your in a different place each night or laundry service is expensive.  The only place we stayed for more than one night in Greece was on the ship and in Athens.  I didn't check the prices for laundry on the ship, but that was too early in the trip anyway.  At our hotel in Athens, prices were high with an added thirty percent for one day service making the cost of washing items like underwear and socks almost as much as the cost of buying new ones and considerably more than the cost of Onederwear.

Dumb Crimes and Criminals

A first-time bank robber in Connecticut fell and rolled down a steep hill trying to escape the scene.  He broke his leg and hit a plow blade at the bottom of the hill causing a serious injury.  He also lost most of the monet while rolling down the hill.  He manages to drag himself to his car and drive to a hospital where the hospital staff called police.

A woman in California was arrested on kidnapping charges for tying up her daughters boyfriend with duct tape.  She allegedly planned to take him from Southern California to Northern California to get him away from her daughter, apparently believing that once she left him in Northern California he would be unable to return on his own.

Photo: More of the fantastic rock formations at Ioanini and Meteora.  The odd roundness of the rocks is due to being underwater in the distant past.
