I am always amazed by people who consider hate a Christian value.  We see bumper stickers that read "God hates _____" (fill in with Fags, Liberals, Jews, people with blue eyes, or any other group you want to hate).  We hear Fire and Brimstone Evangelist preachers preaching hatred of all sorts.  Most of these people like to blame their personal prejudices and hatred on the Bible so I thought I should double check to see what the Bible has to say about hatred.  This is what my search revealed:

He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him; - Proverbs 26

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despite fully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
- Matthew 5:43-47

 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
—1 John 2:9

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
—1 John 3:15

I only found one where Hate was shown in a positive way, and that was in Psalm 139 where David is saying that he hates those who hate God.  An understandable, but still improper sentiment, for as an undeniable true Christian preacher, Dr. Martin Luther King said:

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction....The chain reaction of evil — hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars — must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.
