Scripture: A Shinto Prayer
Heaven's eight -fold clouds will part,
and the kami shall lend ears to the sacred words.
The kami of the Earth shall climb to the tops of the high mountains and to the tops of the low mountains,
Dividing and sweeping away the mists of the high mountains and the mists of the low mountains,
Restoring clarity.
I think the word "kami" essentially means Light Beings. So this section of a prayer, which doesn't sound like prayer as most Christians know it, is saying that when the world is full of confusion and ignorance (mist), and a lack of spirituality, those who keep their faith and pray for help will get help from the Light Beings to clear away the mist and Divine Knowledge (Gnosis) will push ignorance aside.

Hi Harold, that's a beautiful prayer, thank you for sharing it. kami usually refers to a god but light beings is a very nice way to put it too. I've added this post to http://www.spiri2al.com, stop by and vote for it if you get the chance.

Thaanks for the comment and the explanation. The book of Shinto prayers that I recently bought didn't explain the word 'kama" so I tried to interpret it according to how it was used.
