On Parallel Universes

A popular theory among today's quantum physicists is the theory of multiple, or parallel, universes.  The idea is that there are an infinite number of universes that are similar to our universe but separate from it.  A common part of this belief is that these many universes are created by us.  Each time we make a decision, an alternate universe is created in which we make a different decision.
I think the basic idea of parallel universes is a possibility, but I can't accept the second part of the theory.  It doesn't make sense to me that we would create an entire new universe every time we make a decision for two primary reasons.
Reason 1 is that it seems very wasteful.  If I'm choosing which of four neckties to wear today, does it make any sense that such a simple decision should result in the creation of three alternate universes?  It doesn't to me.  An entire universe just to accommodate my tie selection!  I don't think so.  Perhaps a major decision, like going to war, will create an alternate universe, but I can't see that happening for such minor things as tie selection.
Reason two is that it makes the whole concept of good and bad, right and wrong, irrelevant!  If at some point in your life you make a choice to take a low-paying, but legal and ethical job rather than accepting an offer to become a drug pusher or pimp, your choice, according to the theory, results in an alternate universe where you do become a drug pusher.  If you make a choice not to kill the guy who raped your daughter and let the legal system handle it, this theory says that in an alternate universe, you do kill him.  So, in short, if this theory is true, all sense of ethics and morality gets thrown out the door!  There is no reason to do good because it only causes you to do the opposite in an alternate universe.
For those two reasons, I cannot accept that theory.  Another alternative that I do find intriguing is that when you have a vivid dream of some place, you create that place as an alternate universe.  I'm not saying that is what happens, I don't know, I just think it's an interesting alternative to the more popular theory.
