Scripture: The Third Letter to the Corinthians
For God who is over all, the Almighty, the one who made heaven and earth, sent prophets to the Jews first of all, that they might be pulled away from their sins. For he wanted to save the house of Israel. And so he sent a portion of the Spirit of Christ into the prophets, who proclaimed the true worship of God for many years.
The part of this quotation I find interesting is the line I underlined. Many Christians agree that Christ is an eternal spirit, yet, they also believe that the birth of Jesus and the birth of Christ was one and the same thing. This bit of scripture shows that many in the early years of Christianity did not believe that, otherwise, how could God send the "Spirit of Christ" into old testament prophets? The Spirit of Christ was in Jesus, yes, but that spirit existed long before Jesus was born.
