A lot of people in this time are like deer in the headlights; hypnotized, entranced.  They are entranced by video games, television, movies and electronic toys like cell phones and mp3 players.  
    I'm not saying these devices are intentionally hypnotizing people, especially young people, but it happens anyway.  They get so involved in these fantasy worlds, that they often ignore what is going on around them in what we generally call "the real world".  While global warming is increasing dramatically, they continue to ignore the implications and do everything they can to speed it along.  While national economies fall apart they continue to do business as usual while ignoring the underlying problem, which is a lack of honesty and spiritual values in business today.  While fluctuations in the Earth's magnetic field indicate, according to some experts and computer simulations, that our poles are likely to reverse soon, they continue to shoot aliens and bad guys in a video game.
    There are exceptions, of course.  There are some people of all ages who are getting very involved in environmentalism, ethics and spiritual development, but they remain a minority.
    I only bring up all this because I think we all have a responsibility to do something about it.  Those of us who have recognized the importance of spiritual values need to help others do the same.  I do it through this blog, by talking to friends and coworkers and sometimes just by sending out positive, healing thoughts.
