Scripture: The Apocalypse of Peter 1
And the Lord answered us saying, "Take heed that no one deceive you and that you be not doubters and serve other gods. Many shall come in my name and saying, "I am the Christ." Believe them not, neither draw near to them. For the coming of the Son of God shall not be plain; but as the lightning that shines from the east to the west, so will I come upon the clouds of heaven with a great host in my majesty; with my cross going before my face will I come in my majesty; shining seven times brighter than the sun will I come in my majesty;
In the first part of this, Jesus is warning that false prophets will come claiming to represent him, or even to be a new Christ. We should not let them deceive us (sadly, many have been deceived by these false prophets and messiahs already). He then tells how Christ will return in the end times. Two parts of this I find particularly interesting. The phrase: "as the lightning that shines from the east to the west, so will I come " sounds like it is describing the movement of the sun despite saying "lightning" rather than "Light". A misinterpretation perhaps? Then, He tells us Christ will shine seven times brighter than the sun. That is exactly what old testament prophet Malachi said about the Sun of Righteousness. That's not a coincidence. They are both talking about the same thing.
