School Dream Interpretation

I dreamed I was in school and I was in the men's locker room. I went into the shower and turned on the water and took a shower. A teacher than came in and got upset because I had just washed the ink off the prom posters that were sitting in the shower room to dry. She told me I would have to stay late to help make new posters but I told her I couldn't stay because I had to catch a bus in a few minutes so she let me go.

Interpretation

The whole scenario in this dream doesn't make sense. Why put posters in the shower to dry? Why was a woman teacher putting them in the men's shower? This is a clear indication that the dream has symbolic, not literal meaning. So lets look at the symbols present.

School - You are learning and need to continue learning

Shower (water, bathing) - Cleansing, baptism, emotions

Teacher – Usually a good symbol for someone engaged in spiritual learning. It may indicate a teacher is trying to help you, or that you need to pay more attention to your teacher.  It also means, of course, that you still have some things to learn.

Posters - The closest I could find was for “sign” which indicates you need direction and guidance. The fact that I didn't even notice the posters until after I ruined them would indicate that I sometimes ignore the symbols that are sent to help me until it's too late. Of course, washing the ink off the posters can also indicate starting out fresh, with a clean slate.

Prom – An end of a phase and the beginning of a new one

Overall – I believe this dream is telling me that I am ready to (or need to) move on to the next step in my spiritual development, but I need to pay more attention to the symbols and events occurring around me that provide guidance and especially, to my spiritual teacher.   If you don't work with a spiritual teacher, you're wandering the desert without a compass.
