Sacred Architecture
I've written before about sacred geometry and the Pythagorean belief that geometry was a sacred science that should be taught only in spiritual schools. Many ancient people constructed buildings, both private and public, according to the laws of sacred geometry and proportion.
The ancient Egyptian temples, pyramids, and other building were build using the ideas of sacred geometry. The Babylonians before them also followed these principles. The Hawaiians always had a Kahuna supervise the construction of a building to ensure that it was build according to sacred geometry and at the correct time and place so it would please the gods. The temple of Solomon was build to divine proportion.
Even today, we still often follow some of these ancient beliefs. Churches, temples and other places of worship are often built at the top of a hill and facing the rising sun in the east. The popular Feng Shui, while somewhat different, probably evolved from these ancient teachings. Perhaps if we followed these concepts in building today's temples of commerce, they might operate in a manner more beneficial to all.
