A Self Made Man
We often hear in the news that some wealthy business man is a "self made man". Even without the implication that he has no parents, the statement is still ridiculous. Let's look at what it would mean to really be a self made man or woman.
Since the day he was born, only to be abandoned hours later by his parents, he took care of himself. He managed to crawl into a cave a short ways from the edge of the woods where his parents left him. He always managed to feed himself with an uncanny ability to recognize what was edible and nutritious and what was not.
He was attacked by a raccoon when a few months old, but somehow managed to scare it away. When he was a year old, he learned to dig holes and plant seeds to grow more food. By the age of two, he had learned to make clothes by weaving plant fibers together.
At age ten, he finally made his first trip outside of the forest at night and went into town where he stayed hid and just listened to what was going on around him. He of course understood what people were saying, even though he was never taught language. After several trip, he decided it was reasonable safe to reveal himself. He didn't tell people he lived in a cave in the forest, but he did start to meet people.
He knew he would need money to get anywhere in this world, so he found a fertilizer company in town and sold the owner the formula for the fertilizer he developed while living in the forest. He used some of that money to set up a produce stand and sold the extra food he grew. Eventually, he made enough money to buy that fertilizer company and develop even better fertilizers with the uncanny knowledge of plants he gained while living in the forest. He then built an apartment building single-handedly using tools he made from rocks and sticks and got heavily into real estate.
I could go on, but I think I've made the point. This story is impossible. We all rely on others for things we can't do ourself. We rely on our parents to care for us as infants. We depend on people in generations long before us who invented language, printing, money, weaving, farming, herding, etc, etc. So unless you know someone who lived like this fictional character, you don't know a self-made person. They don't exist.
