The Service for World Peace

One of the highlights of this years convocation in Reno was the Interfaith prayer service for world peace.  It was originally planned to be outside at sunset but was moved indoors to our chapel due to the cold weather.  Celebrants, in addition to our own International Community of Christ bishops, were:
 Rajan Zed, a Hindu Leader
 Reverend William Bartlett, Buddhist Priest
Bishop Paul Clemens, Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch, Malabar Rite
 Roya Galata, Bahai Faith
Father George Wolf, Roman Catholic Diocese of Reno

Also scheduled, but unable to attend:
Iman Abdul Barghouhti, Northern Nevada Muslim Center
Irwin Sharp Fish, Lakota Sioux Nation
Rabbi Myra Soifer, Temple Sinai

The service consisted of prayers and chants by the Celebrants, some with audience participation.  It was all very moving.  I noted with interest how the chants from various faiths and in different languages sound very similar.
