Lost and Found

We have probably all been lost at one time or another.  Lost because we took a wrong turn, or didn't get good directions.
Or maybe we got lost in a more figurative sense.  Maybe the plans we made when young didn't work out like we expected.  Maybe we got pulled or knocked off our track by well meaning, but misguided friends.   Maybe an illness, injury, drugs or alcohol knocked us off our track.
In spiritual development, the same thing happens.  We get lost because there is so much confusion about what is right, what is real, and what is man made.  We get lost because our friend and relatives are following a different path to spiritual enlightenment, or maybe no path at all.  Or we may just give up in frustration because we don't seem to be making progress.
When we get lost on city streets, we check a map or ask for directions, preferably, from someone you can trust.
When we get lost in life we might read self help books, see a therapist, get a life coach, etc.
With our spiritual development, it's very similar.  First, we need a map, a guide to tell us how to achieve spiritual enlightenment, Christ Consciousness, Samadhi, or whatever term you prefer.  And since no map is 100% correct, we need spiritual teachers to guide us.  Even better, if we work as part of a group of like-minded people, we can keep each other on the path and we advance more as a group than individually.
