Random Thoughts 9-7-2008
I was right about Gustav becoming a major hurricane, but it's looking like Ike rather than Josephine will be the next major storm.
Hanna dropped 8.34 inches of rain here in Woodbridge, Virginia. Today is going to be hot and sunny. That adds up to steamroom.
I took the dogs to Leesylvania park again on Labor day. I saw several deer on the way in and another Great Blue Heron. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera so no pictures to share. The dogs enjoyed it though.
I support most environmental causes, but I have to admit, I don't understand the big push recently to ban bottled water. If the problem is the plastic bottles than shouldn't the bottles be banned regardless of the content? I think soda, juice and milk account for more plastic bottles than water. As for the idea that bottled spring water is no different than tap water, yea right, and champagne is just kool-aid with bubbles.
Since slight variations in spelling family names are common, I sometimes wonder if I'm related to Julia Bulette, the famous prostitute from the wild west days of Virginia City, Nevada.
Strange News:
A growing fad is collecting strands of hair from famous people. Some are paying thousands for strands. A strand of John Lennon's hair sold for $48,000.
Due to a misprint, people calling to get a federal duck stamp, are being connected to a phone sex line instead.
Police were called to a house in New Jersey when neighbor's reported hearing a woman calling for help. It turned out to be a cockatoo practicing his vocabulary.
