Rutilated quartz is clear quartz with tiny needles inside that often look like gold but are actually rutile, an ore of titanium.  They can be gold, red, or silver colored.  It is found in many areas of the world including Brazil and the United States.


Folklore and healing properties:

Rutilated quartz is also known as Venus hair stone.  Some believed the needles were the captured hairs of the goddess Venus.

It is also known as angel hair quartz for a similar reason, some believed the gold needles were angel hair.

Rutilated quartz aids in eliminating dark moods and in making decisions.  It is a sleep aid and an aid in relationships.  It helps the movement of energy throughout the body.  It can help with food disorders.  It helps to uncover the root cause of mental problems and hang-ups.   French doctors used to prescribe wearing it in a necklace for bronchitis.   It is believed by some to slow aging and is considered a good healing stone.  Psychics and Spiritualists use it to aid in dreamwork and spirit communication.   Some also believe it aids in communicating with extraterrestrials.
