Ancient Civilizations
Throughout recorded history there have been stories and legends of ancient, often advanced, civilizations that have disappeared. Atlantis, Mu and Lemuria are the best known of the ancient civilizations. In addition, there are legends of more recent hidden places such as El Dorado and Shambhala. Places where spiritually advanced people lived, or live, hidden from materialistic society. Are any of these places real?
While many will deny it, there is evidence to indicate that one or more of these ancient civilizations really existed. First, there are ruins found in many parts of the world that are much older than the civilizations that have lived there in recorded history. Second, there are the mysterious artifacts that are occasionally found such as a battery thousands of years old. Third, many peoples all over the world have legends of there ancestors coming from a distant land at a much earlier time to start their civilization.
So why do so many resist the idea that great civilizations, some as technically advanced as our own, existed in the distant past but are now gone? Because it frightens them. It’s really that simple. The idea that a great advanced civilization, or several such civilizations, could have disappeared, or been destroyed by disease, flood, war or other causes, is frightening because we like to feel secure in our society and think that our technology will solve all of our problems and our civilization will go on forever. When history and archeology tells us otherwise, we don't like it.
