Random Thoughts 7-6-2008

Yesterday was the first of the auctions for dog clones at Best Friends Again.  They are not giving any information on the web site about how many bids they got and who won.  Its interesting to read the guarantee.  They guarantee that the clone will physically resemble toe the original.  They specifically do not guarantee a behavioral resemblance, other than in the general behavior that all dogs have in common.  In other words, if you have a poodle cloned, they guarantee that the clone will look and act like a poodle, nothing more.

More Dumb Criminals:

A woman stole $5000 from the car dealer where she worked, then left town.  She might not have been caught if she hadn't given that car dealer as a reference when she applied for a new job at her new location.

A 21 year old guy in Texas took a blank check from his girlfriends checkbook and made it out to himself for $360,000,000,000.00.  Thats $360 billion dollars!  He took it to the bank and tried to cash it.  When he was arrested, he claimed his girlfriend's mother was giving him the money to start a record label.

A 13 year old boy in North Carolina with an interest in law enforcement, twice stole a police cruiser and took it joy riding.  The boys mother was aware of it, but didn't think he had done any harm.  The boy is now in juvenile custody and the mother has been changed with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Strange Science:

Scientists in Switzerland found that stupid flies live longer than smart ones.  I guess when you live on garbage and dog poo, brains just get in the way.  Maybe that explains why criminals and street gangs seem to be getting dumber by the minute.

Cardiologists in Hartford, CT had police taser a guy with an irregular heart beat.  His heart beat returned to normal.
In religion:

An interesting article about corporate jets.  Billionaire Warren Buffet thinks they are usually a waste of money, just an ego trip for corporate executives.  That hasn't stopped some 30 Televangelists from owning them.
