Random Thoughts 6-22-2008

This April, Americans drove 1.4 billion less highway miles and 20 billion less total miles than last April.  That is about a 2% drop.  This is due, of course, to the gas prices.  Unfortunately, this hurts the travel industry, from airlines to rental cars, hotels to resorts and cruise ships.

Hundreds, if not thousands of gay couples married this week in California, and no earthquake!  Could it be that God doesn't really care one way or the others if Gay's get married?

A group of pigs that were lucky enough to survive the farm they were on getting flooded had their luck run out when they managed to get back on dry land farther downstream.  Deputies shot them for fear they were going to damage the levee.  Somehow, I seem to  have missed all the news reports about gangs of wild pigs tearing down levees.

I received my invitation to the ICC Convocation in Reno.  The convocation runs from October 5th to October 12th.  I made my plane reservations for the trip and it cost double what I paid last year.

Yesterday I ran an article about using levees to prevent floods.  An hour later, CNN starting running a story about some experts saying that rebuilding the levees may not be a good idea.
