Extreme sports are very popular these days.  Sports where injuries and death occur at a relatively high rate compared to regular sports.  So what is the appeal?  Enthusiasts say it is the adrenaline rush that makes them want to do it.  In other words, life should be a thrill a minute or it's not worth living so we might as well die having fun.
    This is a very materialistic outlook on life because only a materialistic person would find his day-to-day life boring and need to seek thrills this way and only a materialistic person would consider life so unimportant as to constantly risk loosing it for fun.  
    A spiritually developed person is rarely, if ever, bored.  How can you be bored when you can talk to angels, saints and even God?  Communicating with the Worlds of Light, or Heaven if you prefer, is the ultimate thrill.  It's what turned Rumi into the original Whirling Dervish and a great spiritual poet.  It's what made St. Francis give up the materialistic world of his father and start a monastic order.  It's what kept Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. going when the odds were stacked against them.  It's the original and ultimate extreme experience and, rather than causing death, it can save your immortal soul.
