Random Thoughts

In the Crazy Crime Corner this week:

A man in New Zealand was fined for assaulting a teenager by throwing a hedgehog at him.

While here in the states, Colorado specifically, two young men are robbing convenience stores wearing
womens thong underwear as masks.

Police link the large-scale theft of diesel fuel from a western Pa. store to a specially equipped pickup truck trailer with a trap door and a vacuum pump.

A Swiss watchmaker is making a watch for wealthy people who don't really care what time it is.  The watch, which will sell for around $300,000, will only indicate day or night (technically, this isn't a crime, but close enough).

News in Religion:

The Pope, having heard complaints during his travels about not allowing women priests, has emphasized his continued disapproval by stating that women who are ordained as priests and the bishops who ordain them will be excommunicated.

A religious teacher in Brunai expressed shock when she saw a t-shirt being sold in a department store with a cross on it.  Meanwhile, back here in the much saner U.S.A., Dunkin Donuts pulled an add featuring Rachel Ray in a scarf that looked vaguely like a keffiyeh, a traditional Arab headdress, after a blogger started complaining.

And in Iraq,  a U.S. Marine handed out coins promoting Christianity to Muslims in the former insurgent stronghold of Fallujah, outraged Sunni officials said Friday. The U.S. military responded quickly, removing him from duty pending an investigation.
