Energy Drains
I have wrote before about why we need to increase our physical and spiritual energy if we want to grow spiritually and mentioned some things that could be done to increase that energy. What about those things that deplete our energy? Can we do anything about them?
The Answer is yes, there is a lot you can do to eliminate energy drains from your life. The first step is to identify what is draining your energy. Here are some of the most common causes:
Physical
Eating junk foods or just eating too much
Lack of sleep
Lack of exercise
not taking care of medical problems
Mental
Negativity
Anger
Fear
Feeling your a victim
Lack of patience
Intolerance
Environmental
Cramped or cluttered living quarters
Living in a bad neighborhood (or one you see as bad)
Excessive noise
Air and water pollution
There are many others, only you can decide which are draining your energy and what you can do about it.
To get rid of energy drains, start with the ones you can deal with the easiest like eating better and getting more sleep then, as your energy increases, you will be better able to deal with the more difficult ones. For mental or emotional issues, simply trying to suppress anger or fear isn't enough. That just internalizes it. You need to resolve the problem. If you can't resolve your fears and emotional issues yourself, a Psych-K weekend workshop is a good program to help. For environmental problems, reduce the clutter, get organized. If you live in a city where there are few trees or flowers, put some plants and flowers in your house, apartment or on a deck.
