Random Thoughts
I miss old style news reporting. The kind where the reporter tells you the news and lets you form your own opinion about it. It seems that now, CNN , trying to Imitate Fox News, has decided that virtually all of their news shows should include reporters who give us opinions of everything they report, and give it in the manner of a televangelist giving a sermon.
Weird and Wacky news items this week:
A company is auctioning off five slots to get dogs cloned. There calling it "Best Friends Again" as if they are actually going to give you back your old pet. The problems with this are many. First, the clone may look like your old pet but will have a very different personality. Second, with all the dogs and cats being killed because the shelters can't find them owners, paying 100 thousand plus (starting bid on the first auction is $100,000 and each subsequent one starts at $20,000 more than the previous one) to get a xerox copy is more than stupid, it's obscene, and third, if you really have an overwhelming urge to spend $100,000+, there are plenty of charities that need help right now. Of course, it is possible that this is all just a marketing scam to get a new company some publicity and they don't really expect to sell any clones. We will just have to wait and see.
If your an oil company executive, you might want to have lunch on Wall street. A restaurant there is selling a $175 burger topped with truffles, foi gras and gold flakes. It sounds like gold is not the only flaky thing in New York.
Religious News:
Five years ago, New Hampshire Bishop V. Gene Robinson made headlines by becoming the first openly gay bishop elected in the Episcopal Church or in the wider Anglican Communion. Robinson is making headlines again for his upcoming civil union ceremony with his partner of 20 years, Mark Andrew. The ceremony was originally planned to take place on the Capitol steps in Concord, but was moved indoors for security.

AS far as I'm concerned cloning pets is a huge waste of money. I have had many animals in my life and loved them all dearly,so witch one would I choose to clone? I believe that each and every animal is sent to us exactly when we need them and when it is time for them to leave us,we must let them go. The most beloved dog of my life has been gone for 4 years now,and I still miss him, but cloning him just would not be right. He was a very special soul who came into my life exactly when I needed him and I could clone his body but it would not be the same wonderful, beautiful soul who loved me and protected me for 14 years. Cloning an animal means having the body of that animal, But you don't have the soul or his personality. When it is time for you're animal to go, accept it and let them move on. If you decide that you want another animal, go to a local shelter and you will definitely find the next animal you are meant to be with

I agree completely. I've had three dogs pass on and I miss them all very much, but each new dog I adopt from the animal shelter (I usually have two at a time) soon becomes just as much a part of the family as the dogs I had before.
