I had my own strange encounter with an octopus on a night dive off Bonaire.  When we got close to the octopus sitting on a rock, it started to swim away.  When I put my underwater camera up to my eye to get a picture, he made a sharp u-turn and swam directly at my camera, which means directly at my face!  I started backing away and he just followed, staying about a foot in front of me.  I then threw my arm with the camera off to the side, which seemed to startle him, or satisfy his curiosity, and he turned and swam off again.

The government of Singapore, concerned about a declining birth rate, is giving high school students flirting classes.

Swirling currents in the Pacific ocean have created  "Garbage Island", an area twice the size of Texas, where trash of all sorts, but mostly plastics, have been building up since the 1950s.  Much of the plastic is toxic to sea life, birds and humans and it continues to grow.  If this doesn't convince people that we are not doing enough to protect our environment, I don't know what will.
