Luck of the Irish

Actually, luck isn't limited to the Irish.  It's not a fantasy either.  A random number generator, such as the type that is used in modern slot machines, is supposed to be completely impartial.  No one is supposed to have any better odds with a random number generator than anyone else.  Studies have shown otherwise.
A number of tests conducted in recent years have found that the beliefs or intent of the person observing can have a significant effect on the outcome.   When a random number generator was used to decide which of two pictures to display, what people saw was usually pretty close to a fifty-fifty distribution.  But when the person observing the test was told to expect one picture to appear more often that the other, that's exactly what happened.
So if a person believes he is lucky, he will win more often than the person who thinks he is unlucky, or even neutral.  The belief in your own luck increases the odds that you will be lucky.  And the belief that you are a looser
will reduce your odds of winning.
So what does all this have to do with spirituality?  Plenty.  If you believe you are worthy, and believe you will become enlightened, the chances of doing so are increased.  If you think you are not worthy and won't succeed, than your chances of success are reduced.  So believe in yourself.  Believe that you are worthy.  You would not have been led onto this path if you were not.
