A sailboat will not make much progress if it never unfurls it's sails.  It also won't go in the right direction if it doesn't have a rudder.  The sailboat will just wander aimlessly like a piece of driftwood.  Even when the sail are unfurled, you need some wind to get you moving.
    Unfortunately, many people are like that.  They have no plan, no goals, no idea of where they are headed or how they will get anywhere.  Then they wonder why they don't get anywhere.   Others are content to just float along like a piece of driftwood but that piece of driftwood doesn't do so well when a big storm come up.
    Financially successful people like Bill Gates and Donald Trump don't just stumble into buckets of money while wandering aimlessly.  They make plan, set goals, and take the necessary steps to get where they want to be.
    The same is true for those who want to develop spiritually.  With very few exceptions, it doesn't just happen.  You have to have a goal and be aware of what the goal is.  Whether you call it Christ Consciousness, Nirvana, Enlightenment, Gnosis or some other name, you need to be aiming for something and that something is oneness with God.  You need a plan to follow and that is where spiritual teachers come in.  And you need wind in your sails and that comes from the Light of the Sun of Righteousness.
