Aquamarine is the birthstone for March.  The Aquamarine is a member of the beryl family.  Beryl is a mineral that crystallizes within large grained igneous rocks on the earth's crust.  The color varies from blue-green to light blue.  The best one come from Brazil, but it is also mined in Africa and the middle east.

In folklore, Aquamarine is said to reawaken love in a marriage gone stale and to bring safety and security into relationships.  It is also reputed to bring happiness, courage and foresight.  Ancient sailors believed it would protect them from danger at sea.  It was also believed to help you get in touch with your spiritual self and is an aid in meditation.
In crystal healing, it is used to treat anxiety.  It will aid in energizing and protecting the green, blue, and indigo energy centers.
