House of Glass
People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
An old saying that many think has nothing to do with them because they don't live in a glass house and rarely, if ever, throw stones. That might be true with a very literal interpretation of this saying, but I don't think it was intended that way. It has been interpreted as meaning that we should not criticize others when we are guilty of the same, or very similar, behavior. I would go even further than that.
I think we all live in glass houses in the sense that we are all affected by what others say, do and think. And we all "throw stones" when we spread rumors and lies. We are even throwing stones when we have thoughts of anger, violence and intolerance. Jesus warned that just thinking about it was the same as doing it because thoughts affect us just as much as acts do, just not as obvious. Not only do our thought affect others, but our angry and violent thoughts hurt ourselfs. We are all connected and what each of us does affects everyone else. In quantum terminology, this is called entanglement.
The world we live in is a mirror of our thoughts and the collective world we all live in is a product of our collective thoughts. Correcting out own thoughts by learning to control them and just by understanding the effect they can have is the place to start, but we also have to convince others to do the same. Otherwise, out collective world will not change. As I've mentioned before, thoughts create energy, energy that can be measured, and energy does work. So what work do you think is getting done by the millions of people with angry, violent, and intolerant thoughts? Some have suggested that this massive amount of destructive thoughts may be responsible for hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc. They may be right.
