I agree that it is a good thing to have our pets neutered given the serious overpopulation that results in about half of the animals brought to shelters being killed because they can't find an owner for them within the time limit, but there is a negative side to neutering. 
Most young people today have never seen a cat or dog give birth.  Many have not even seen how devotedly and patiently the mother will care for the young until they can care for themselves.  I also doubt that public schools even show films of this behavior.  An important life lesson is being missed, and it shows in the behavior of many young people today and will probably get even worse over the next few years.
