Gems and Crystals: Rose Quartz
Rose Quartz is one of the birthstones for the month of January. It is one of the most desirable varieties of quartz due to it's unique pink to rose-red color that is different for any other pink stone. It is found in Brazil, India, Madagascar and the United States.
It is said to help deal with problems regarding self-esteem, love (especially love of self), childhood traumas. It is said in traditional crystal healing to benefit the heart (green) chakra(energy center), but it seems to me the pink color would mostly aid the red energy center, or perhaps both.

I have a few very nice rose quartz crystals adn like them very much. people often comment that it "feels good" in our home.I think a part of that is due to our crystals. I was always under the impression that rose quartz helps in matters of the heart. But not physical heartproblems, more the broken heart. And certainly as you mentioned self love. I've always recommended that if someone is getting over a broken heart to wear a rose quartz necklace to help them through.

I agree, it helps to have crystals in the house. I have a large assortment of small ones in my house. You should see the collection of crystals in our head bishop's house, most of them gifts. One day I'll remember to take pictures of some of them and post them on my blog. Mayby some of mine also.
