The X-men in the comic books and movies are not real, but there is a kind of X-men that are.  They don't shoot ice, fire or electricity out of their fingers.  The mutation they have is more spiritual than physical.  They are called the Chosen of God or the Chosen of Israel (Israel, in this case, does not refer to a nation or a particular religion).  They are better equipped to connect the physical worlds to the spiritual worlds and they are here as teaches and helpers in what is obviously the End Times. 
Like the mutants in X-men, they are sometimes feared, hated, and suppressed by small-minded people who don't understand them.  Fortunately, they are strong enough to overcome this bigotry.
