Christian VS Christian
It's sad when various Christian churches and groups oppose each other because of differences that have nothing to do with being Christian, ie, following the teachings of Christ.
Evangelical Christians say Romney is not a "real Christian" because he belongs to the Mormon church.
The Catholic Church refusing to Accept Dignity, the organization of Gay Catholics.
Baptists opposing Catholics for allowing fund raising on church property.
Just a few of many examples.
This harms the overall Christian faith in two ways:
1) People who might be considering Christianity may be turned away by this internal bickering
2) We give ammo to atheists who say religion, especially Christianity, is divisive and leads to war and strife.
We all need to think about this before Christians themselves destroy Christianity.

I agree! I also have issues with churches that preach forgiveness, acceptance, kindness, charity and love but ex-communicate people from the church if they do something they don't like. For example premarital sex or living together. I was just told a story this morning of someone getting married. They have been long standing members of their church. They had to go through a meeting to see if they were worthy of getting in the church they have been members of years. They were asked if they have ever had sex. They told the truth and said yes, these people are in their mid thirties. They were told they couldn't have the wedding in the church and that the were not welcome back at the church again ever. That means that you either tell the truth and get kicked out of your church or you have to lie to stay a member. What happened to truth, forgiveness, acceptance and so on? Talk about contradiction. Instead these people are getting married by a JP and are no longer church members. This happens all the time for a variety of reasons. It's so contradictory of their own teachings. And let's be realistic: how many people today that get married haven't done the deed yet? Not many. So that means a huge portion of church members have to lie to be members. That makes no sense at all. They teach love and forgiveness but practice hate and discrimination. It's very sad for those people trying to be good church members, but they happen to be human.

I hadn't heard that story but I agree. It doesn't make sense to expect a couple in there thirties to be virgins. I wonder, how would that church handle an older couple, say in there sixties, that wanted to get married and had been married before? Would they expect them to be virgins?
