I think from the decorations I'm seeing in yards that a holiday is coming, but I'm not sure what it is. It could be Santa Claus day, snowman day or reindeer day. Maybe all three of those holidays fall in the same week? I guess it's good that they are at least remembering Christmas (oops!, sorry. Didn't mean to use that word in public, I meant Holidays (oops!, sorry, My bad #2, that word is just a misspelling of "Holy Day" so that won't do, maybe Winter Day? (unless your in Australia or Brazil)).
Atheists insist atheism is not a religion but they kneel before the altar of science, the most dogmatic religion of all! Anything a scientist says is accepted as absolute truth until another scientist proves the theory wrong a few years later.
Another serial killer in the news. A nineteen year old shoots 13 in a mall killing eight, than kills himself. From the contents of his suicide note, he apparently didn't believe in God or an afterlife so might as well go out with a bang.

I'm going to take this opportunity to share how my husband Phil and I will be spending our Christmas. I have one adult son from a previous marriage. He is engaged, living with his fiance 2 states from us. Because of the distance we have to sometimes do holidays on different days. All four of us spent Thanksgiving together so Christmas my son and future daughter in law will spend Christmas with her parents. That means we will get together to celebrate Christmas on the weekend before Christmas. Soooo...What about Christmas day? We will spend the day together at home in Maine. We will sleep in and then when we do get up have our coffee and sit together and envision "our girls" opening their gifts. What I mean by that is we decided not to exchange gifts to each other. There's nothing we need. Sure there are always things one wants, but there is truly nothing we need. Instead of buying for each other we "adopted" 2 girls form our local area to buy gifts for instead. This is done through our local Kiwanis club. You just tell them how many children you want to "adopt". You don't know who they are and they don't know who you are. Parents that are going through a difficult time apply to the organization on behalf of their children. The kids are totally unaware. You get a card about each child that tells you the age, sex, sizes and favorite color. You get the children's Christmas gifts and give them to the Kiwanis club. They give them to the parents and provide the wrapping paper, bows and tags. This way the parents can wrap the gifts and be involved. The children think they came from the parents, or Santa depending on their beliefs. The children get gifts of desperately needed new clothing, shoes, winter boots and whatever other gifts you choose to get them. The parents can keep their dignity and see their children enjoy Christmas. But Phil and I, we get the best gift ever.We get to spend Christmas morning with incredible joy in our hearts thinking about these girls opening their gifts! We will exchange nothing between ourselves except that wonderful joy. It truly, truly does feel better to give than receive. If anyone reading this has not been charitable or considerate of others please consider giving this or something similar a try. You will be shocked at how good it feels. It was also a blast doing the shopping for these girls! I usually hate Christmas shopping. This year I loved it! The rest of the day we will go outside and do some snowshoeing in our woods, and probably go for a snowmobile ride together. We'll have a quiet but lovely dinner and thank God for each other, our lives, our families and all the blessing we already have. We believe this is what Christmas is about...giving, helping others, being thankful, honoring and respecting all life. Christmas isn't about how many presents you get it's about celebrating God and acknowledging the everyday gifts he gives us and taking the opportunity to give back. That is the same as giving a gift to God

A great story and I completely agree. We always do something similar at my office. We have "Operation Santa Claus" where we buy things for underprivaleged children. In previous years they had a list of names, ages, and what the child wanted. This year was a little different. There were no names or list of gifts, just a list of coat sizes and the number needed in each size for boys and girls. I always participate and this year bought four coats. I also bought one toy for the toys-for-tots collection.
