Book of the Week: Writer's Block & Creative Block
The Writer's Block by Jason Rekulak
Creative Block by Lou Harry
These two block shaped books are a great help for writers. They are not made to be read from beginning to end like most books. Instead, when you are looking for ideas to get you started on a writing project, you flip open to a page at random. Each page usually has a picture on one side and a word, phrase, or suggestion on the other, for example:
Write from the point of view of a character on his deathbed
Much is said of the first kiss. Write about the last kiss.
If the first page doesn't stimulate you, just try another. A lot of great suggestions that have helped me numerous times when I can't think of something to write for my blog.
