In Daniel, Chapter one we are told that Daniel and the other children had skill and knowledge in all learning and wisdom, interpretation of dreams and visions, and in all matters of wisdom and understanding were ten times better than the magicians and astrologers.
    So the interpretation of dreams and visions was apparently considered an appropriate skill for the children of Israel and not just something practiced by pagans, atheists and charlatans.
