A recent Issue of Scientific American had an article about future computers. The memory of these computers will be a lab grown diamond. So much for the idea that gems and crystals are just decorative bobbles to be used in jewelry.

I'm so glad you talk about crystals periodically in your blog. I have been a long time fan of crytals. For over 25 years I have surrounded myself with crystals around my home or in jewelry because of the energy and healing they provide. We are in the process of landscaping and we have founds HUGE pieces of quartz throughout our property. I told the landscapers not to remove any of them but instead to use them in the landscaping design. They have been placed all around the house in various gardens and by walkways. They not only ad a beautiful, natural and interesting aspect to the yard but also create a wonderful energy flow. When guests stop in they comment on how good it "feels" here.

That's a good idea. I many places around the world, Priests, Shamans, or whatever they were called in that society, advised placing large crystals, usually quartz around building to keep out evil spirits.
