A Rainbow of Colors

Color Psychologists tell us cool colors are relaxing and warm colors are exciting.  The cool colors of the rainbow are blue, indigo and violet.  The warm colors are red, orange and yellow.  Green is in the middle so it's neither.  Color psychologists have found that work places painted all in one or two drab colors are boring and workers can be made more productive by adding a bit of brighter colors.  Often a simple thing like adding a red or yellow stripe on a drab gray machine is all it takes.   On the other hand, the bright orange cubicles that were popular years ago have largely disappeared. Why? The bright orange does reduce the boredom and keep office workers alert but too much red and orange can result in short-tempered employees.

So what does this have to do with religion and spirituality? A lot!

Your spirit and you body have energy centers (also called chakras).  Each energy center has a different color associated with it.  Your upper energy centers are associated with the cool colors and are more spiritual.  The lower energy centers are associated with warm colors and are more oriented to the physical or material side of your being.
In some people the centers associated with warm colors are much stronger than the others.  Those people tend to be materialistic and physical.  These are the folks who might have a bumper sticker that reads "The one who dies with the most Toys Wins!".  They may believe in God but tend to think of him as a material being rather than a spirit.
In others, the upper blue centers dominate.  They are more spiritual and creative.  In some cases they may be daydreamers who live in a world of creative dreams but don't cope well with the material world around them.
The "Indigo Children" are a good example of this type.  They have great spiritual energy but lack the grounding
in the material side necessary to live happy and productive lives.

Some simple things you can do for yourself or others who fall into either of these unbalanced states:
1) Eat foods in the colors that are your weakest.  A person dominated by the warm colors should eat blue and purple colored foods.  A person dominated by cool colors should eat red and orange food.
2) Wear clothes in your weakest colors.
3) Spend a few minutes each day thinking about your weaker colors.  If blue is your weak color, imagine your in a world where everything is colored blue and purple.  If red is your weak color, imagine your in a world of all red and orange.
