A news story today indicates that violence on city streets is on the rise.  There are probably a number of reasons for this. Violence on television, in the movies and in video games is also increasing.  Coincidence?
The TV execs say it is.   They insist that what people see on television has nothing to do with  how they behave.
Is that what they tell the big corporations when they charge them millions to run ads on TV?  That what people see on TV does not change the way they behave? I don't think so.  If TV advertising didn't work the companies would stop paying for it.  If advertising changes behavior than so do the shows.
